Frequently Asked Questions Domain Registration

Which domain names can be hosted by ISP4RENT?

We can host any domain name, as long as you can point the DNS to us.

We cannot register all domain names. Please select the related article to see which domain names (TLDs) we can register.

Please note that the Hungarian registry (.hu domain) requires that the e-mail address provided in the SOA record of the DNS zone is a valid and existing e-mail address. We do not meet this requirement.

What is a TLD and what do they stand for?

A TLD is a generic top-level domain (gTLD). That is a top-level domain used (at least in theory) by a particular class of organisation. These are three or more letters long, and are named for the type of organization that they represent (for example, .com for commercial organizations). For a list of TLDs that ISP4RENT deals with please refer to our page on TLDs.

With whom should I register my domain name?

You can buy your domain names from the cheapest company out there, but you are going to get what you pay for.

We recommend to buy your domain name with a company who you trust. If you feel that we are the best company, we will treat you right, and never trap you into staying with our services.

How much will a domain cost me?

The investment required to secure you name will vary depending upon the TLD used. Please refer to our pricing policy for details. Should there be an TLD not on the list or should you be looking to undertake bulk registrations please enquire for a possible discount.

IDN Domains; How to add a domain with international characters:

Say you want to add domain οικοδεσπότης-γάτορ.gr to your cPanel, its going to give you a nice error about special characters.

What you will need to do is get the Punycode (ACE) version of the domain, it would have a xn-- prefix.

A site you can use to encode this for you is http://www.idnstuff.com/

For οικοδεσπότης-γάτορ.gr the Punycode version is xn----plbucfmli7bcghsvcof1l.gr

Then just add xn----plbucfmli7bcghsvcof1l.gr as an addon/parked domain in cPanel.

This will also work when signing up for a hosting account. Just sign up with domain xn----plbucfmli7bcghsvcof1l.gr and your Greek characters should work.

How do I change my domain name on my account?

You can ask ISP4RENT to change the primary domain name associated with your account.

Note: This does not change the domain name you have registered.

You will not need ISP4RENT's help to change your subdomains, addon domains, and parked domains. You can do that directly in cPanel.

I don't like my domain name, can I change it?

If you registered domain1.com and you would rather have domain-one.net, then you must register the new name.

This means you will own both names. Once the original name is ready to expire, simply choose to not renew the registration (just don't pay for it).

You can also request ISP4RENT to update your account to reflect the new domain name.

Domain Names an Overview

Location, location, location the old real-estate catch cry and it is so true. To have the best position, an easily accessible and memorable address is undeniably important so as to allow customers quick access to you, your goods and your services. Nowhere is this more important than on the internet. On the internet you have the ability to register Domain names that are unique and identifiable to you, your interests, your products or your business.

Obviously there are limited combinations of characters that can be registered that are generally meaningful and easily memorable and as such the competition for desirable names is increasing daily. To expand the capabilities and diversity of names available various extensions were added to the names so apart from the premier site location at .com there are many others including .net, .info, .biz, .mobi as well as country extentions. To understand a little more about Top Level Domain extentions please refer to our link TLD Overview.

The price on various TLD's varies

With economies around the world starting to emerge from the downturn, we are seeing the increasing focus on internet transactions with companies like General Motors’ in the US now putting in place vehicle sales on online auction sites. Significant business and personal decisions are being made with on-line assistance and in so doing premier internet sites are securing the first contact and with it the first opportunity to gain from the enquiry. Today no business can afford not to be seeking out and consolidating its internet business opportunities whether via advertising or with direst sales.

To start this process you need to gain an address, that is a Domain Name. It is via this Domain name that you are going to direct people to see what you have to offer.

We can assist with domain registrations via eNom.  eNom is the largest wholesaler of Internet domains in the world. Via their facilities ISP4RENT can provide domain name registrations. Please use our check and order link to reserve your selected domain names. Due to the high level of fraud, we require payment for all domains prior to registration. Simply use the link to select your domain and then our staff will once payment has been received seek to register your domain name.

Check the availabilty of a Domain Name and order it.

In order to asssit we have provided a WHOIS link so that you can confirm registration details for your domain names.

Domain WHOIS Look up

Once you have registered your domain you will then need to have your name hosted and that is where we at ISP4RENT can assist. ISP4RENT can provide ALL of your web hosting needs.

Understanding Domain Registration

The Registrar can be a different company other than the hosting company. If you do register with ISP4RENT, you should always contact ISP4RENT for help.

ICANN - regulates domain registrations and sets prices. Visit www.internic.net  to learn your rights as a consumer.

ISP4RENT can host any domain name as long as you can point the DNS to us, but we cannot register every domain. See the related articles.

Domain Name Renewals

Do this early, before the expiration date. Read the related article if you do not know how to renew your domain name.

Expiration

If you fail to renew, your registration is interrupted, and then your nameservers will be changed by the registrar. This means it will be a few days before you notice your site goes down, then when you pay the site will take a few more days to be back.

Redemption

After 29 days of being expired, you enter redemption period. Now Enom wants $250.00 plus the normal price to renew the domain name. ISP4RENT will require you to pay this cost or register a different domain. (We make no profit from domains in redemption. The entire payment goes to eNom.)

Transfers

You always initiate the transfer with the new company (takes 5 to 7 days). There are many obstacles that make a valid domain registration transfer fail.

  • Domain name is expired. You must pay the current company before you may transfer.
  • The time with your current registrar is less than 60 days, then you are not allowed to transfer yet. Note, if you just renewed your domain, you may still transfer because you were with the current registrar for more than a year.
  • Your domain status is "locked". This is for your protection against false requests; just ask your current registrar to unlock your domain.
  • Your whois information is incorrect or private. You must have your valid email listed as the Admin Contact Email so you can receive a confirmation letter from the current registrar; you must follow the instructions provided in the subsequent letter.
  • An invalid EPP code ("Auth key") was provided. This is required for most domain names; you must get the EPP code from the current registrar and provide it to the new registrar.
  • You waited too close to the expiration date. Some less reputable registrars might just wait for your domain to expire and then deny the transfer request based on that.

Please initiate your domain registration transfers at least 1 month before the domain expires. This will give you a chance to fix any mistakes and re-initiate the transfer in time.

How do I renew my domain name?

When you register a domain name, be sure to check the Whois information to ensure that all details are correct especially your email address. When it is time to renew your domain you will be advised by email so it is important this address is correct.

If you do not want to rely on email, you can perform a Whois search for your domain, and check the expiration date.

How do I manage the domain I bought from ISP4RENT?

To update any details on your Domain registered via us please use to contact form and one of our staff we be only too happy to assist.
